"Blessed ...»: that happy, joyful. All of us are hungry for joy and on time, every day, we experience the joy offered to us by the logic of the world does not make us happy, it leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Of course we can also happen to live moments of intense, beautiful and very memorable, but they are also not sufficient to bridge the deep desire for absolute, God, carved doors in the heart. If we look around, even for a moment, we are overwhelmed by a jumble of references which permit us to true joy, happiness full, cheap, handy, fast, immediately, enough to possess, appear to exaggerate: to seek the god of money to all costs, impose ruthless, do not "discount" on anyone, always live up to, live, grabbing whatever we happen to roll. But it is sufficient to beat his face even once against the real difficulties of life, to understand how these promises are false and deceptive. Each time, regularly, we are left with a handful of flies in hand, the more unhappy and miserable than before. And in utter discouragement comes from asking, "but there really is the road that leads to happiness?" Well brothers: Today's Word shows us very accurately. Jesus, from the hills overlooking the Sea of \u200b\u200bGalilee, now gives us the real solution to our dilemma: an unlikely solution to the world, but by far the most effective and safe for us Christians. One solution, as usual, disconcerting, like all those of Jesus, but a simple solution that leaves us speechless.
"Blessed are the poor in spirit, the afflicted, the meek, who hunger for justice, the merciful, the pure in heart, the peacemakers, the persecuted, insults ...». We are faced with the complete reversal of all human logic.
discourse of Jesus is a revolutionary discourse: it is the only true revolution in human history that radically distorts the human heart. The other "revolutions", the social, if anything, have managed to change the laws, governments, external structures of society, but they left the man and continue to leave, as it is: unhappy, selfish, racist, violent, greedy.
But exactly what does Jesus do? Enhances perhaps a vision of Catholicism and resigned loser? It gives us perhaps a way of life marked by suffering and sad? It tells us that maybe, if things go wrong, if we are poor (in the greek text literally "beggars"), if we suffer violence if we feel pain and cry, only then we are immensely lucky?
No brothers, do not say stupid things! God does not love the pain, and Jesus himself, as he could, he tried to avoid suffering ("Father, remove this cup from me ...").
The Beatitudes show us rather what we can be. They do not teach not to have disagreements, conflicts, because you can not live without it. They do not teach how to avoid conflict but to get in, do not teach to escape the pain but to express it, do not teach to flee in the face of fear, but to look at her face, not taught to avoid feelings (tutti!) but to live them.
I'm not a magic solution, but an invitation to not be afraid to trust God who tells us: "I am here."
It is an illusion to think you can live without difficulties, without conflicts, tensions and misunderstandings. Because we feel vulnerable because we do not feel strong enough to withstand all shocks, tensions, then we would like to avoid them, then dream of a world without difficulty. The Beatitudes, however, teach us to live a happy, deep, with roots deeply rooted, even when situations are tough, raw and painful, so as not to escape. And they say: Live it and do not steal because you also what you tend to reject makes sense, because everything is live it for yourself and you learn something from everything that happens to you, live it and not to scare you because God is always and never lets you down. Live it and you'll see that it is so. "
The Beatitudes are not glorify poverty, misery, resignation, the piismo, the sadness or suffering. They do not say that poverty is good: the poverty and misery! Poverty is not a , but this is the reality of our human condition.
The Beatitudes do not say that persecution is a good thing: no, it is always terrible and cruel, and who is looking for a masochist. But you can not live even claiming that all accept us for as we are. They do not say that crying is good: no, is and always will be painful. You cry that transforms us, it purifies us. Crying is the natural way to express our pain, our sadness, our grief and our loss. And adaptation to reality. It is not nice, it is necessary (which is very different).
not say that we should close our eyes or suffer the misdeeds of men. They say that we must be merciful, you have to have a big heart that judges actions, not men, behaviors but not people. They say that men act this way because they are full of fear. That's why they become aggressive, violent, irritating. This does not mean we should be everything. When there is to say "no" we must say with all the strength we have. But we must also look within ourselves that person and say: "Poor fellow, what must suffer Who knows what will struggle in his heart!" And do not judge because we do not know its internal tensions.
We must understand that Jesus, in giving us these rules of life, reveals his life exactly, are his true autobiography, tell us exactly his face and the face of the Father. The Father, the true God, is a poor God, a merciful God, a gentle God, a God who loves peace, a God who, through love, is ready to suffer. A God so different from what we imagine a God so wonderful and harmonious us know that only Jesus can truly reveal, because he and the Father are one. His words are not law, but gospel is not important and exacting requirements, but the sublime and beautiful gift that gives us himself our brother. Without the gift of himself and of his Spirit, the beatitudes are an ideology, sublime as you want, but still an ideology. But Jesus not only says, not only speaks, but it gives us exactly what it says, in what he speaks, and he gives us his law written on the heart.
To understand this law but we must become disciples and listen with confidence, you have to "convert" to change their mentality. We are willing to do that? We must be, brothers, it also depends on us to ensure that this law of happiness comes precisely where man lives, those "crazy" that Jesus has put us alongside them as brothers.
We explain to them why God does not treat everyone equally, why not give them the same help, but give everyone as much as they need, giving priority to those who have less: a poor heart, a heart broken and it receives much more attention a heart full of tenderness that does not need anything.
We must explain it to those who live in sorrow, in sickness, to those who feel alone and abandoned. Tell him that happiness is not in pain, in misery, but in the fact that the intervention of God fills the above hearts of those who are broken, those who are poor, those who are suffering. Jesus basically says: if, despite the suffering, persecution, crying, you are peaceful, joyful, in a word "blessed", you've found God, it means that you understand that he is your only support, it means that nothing can take away your happiness, because it is the answer intimate, concrete, the total confidence that you placed in him
also the joys that we live in are a gift from him, and certainly should be lived, because in the end God will ask us to account of all those joys that we have not lived. But, brethren, there is much joy in our heart if, in pain, we remain steadfast in Him, only good thing there can not be removed!
Knowing God, knowing that he only rests in our hearts, disrupts the order of things. The world is aggressive and we need to drive to break through? We always have to prove what we are worth? At work we examined, measured and weighed all the time? Do not worry brothers, we are meek, build peace, we live in justice, because it will always be on the side of God
Moreover, only two are possibilities, there is no escape: the world or right, or has reason God .
The Beatitudes are precisely the promise of a new and different world, with a new logic, a logic that we are called to give our lives, in life of those around us, in the life of our small community gathered around the bread of God
is difficult to live the Gospel, we know it is hard to live the dream in the history of God which is the Church. But the effort that we have stayed glued to the Gospel, the heroic effort that we make in being converted to the logic of the Kingdom, anticipates and achieves the Beatitudes.
fact remains, however, that this Gospel passage, my brothers, continue to be particularly indigestible: a page impractical utopian. Pleasant as a dream, absurd as a way of life, even if we also recognize that it is an example of how we are crystal clear with your brothers, how to conceive of our relationships with others ...
Is it difficult? Well, but let us not be discouraged by this. We think maybe to give up fighting? We prefer to return to our business, our selfishness, our indifference? What little faith we have! Of course it is easier to watch our television, read our newspapers, our magazines, gossip, go to our football games, abandon the ephemeral, the amusements, the din of the world that tells us that Jesus, after all, is a idealist, an inveterate dreamer, not to be taken in large doses, but sipped a bit 'at a time when we have time and desire! Okay?
My brothers, what would be more beautiful if you seriously listen to the soothing voice of God whispers to us: "My little children, aim high, you dare, you can fly at high altitudes because for this you are done. I want this for you and this is your only happiness. If you listen to my word, you have no idea what joys you can experience! You have no idea how you will feel satisfied and happy! Why did not you even know how big your heart: it's really room for a lot of faces, the strength to love them all, you have no idea how many feelings you will hear, feel and live. You have no idea how you can feel rich (even if you have very little) and full of life. And you do not even know what can be beautiful, wonderful and immense live with me. " If we listen carefully to these words of God, brothers, we would not have much space in our heart for the calls and the enticements of the world, because all our attention, all our concerns, our whole life would be full complement of his joyful love. It would be truly blessed. Amen.
