Where Can I Get A Zim Plush

Sunday in Ordinary Time November 7, 2010 - XXXII

"God is not dead, but of the living because all live to him. "peremptory
This statement of Jesus gives us the opportunity today to address one issue on discipleship.
The occasion was a discussion (discussions blessed!) of Jesus with the Sadducees that, unlike Pharisees were the aristocratic and conservative wing of Israel and that they considered the doctrine of the resurrection of the dead, grew slowly in the reflection of the people and definitely made the time of the Maccabean revolt, an unnecessary addition to the teaching of Moses. Thus, the non-crossing shared theory of resurrection with the custom of the levirate (the seed was so important that a brother had to give a son to the widow, sister!) bring to Jesus a paradoxical case (the famous story of the widow "ammazzamariti!).
Jesus, as usual, puts the debate on a different level, invites listeners to look up from a projected view of the fact that after death the anxieties and expectations of this earthly life. It is a new dimension to what Jesus offers, a fullness started but never finished, that does not destroy the feelings (note: in the kingdom but we recognize we are all in all!), But that contradicts the current view of reincarnation (we are one with God not recyclable, and life is not a punishment from which to escape, but an opportunity to identify with!), a vision that drives us to trust in God dynamic and alive, not stuffed!
And here is worth the initial resume concise statement of Jesus: "God is God of the living, because they all live in him."
Now in the end of this year of reflection on discipleship, led by the Gospel of Luke, we can not help ourselves with two questions: we, we really believe in the God of the living? And we, we are truly alive?
Understanding this is quite simple, brothers, we believe in the God of the living if our faith is real, not tired habit; painful and restless desire, not boring duty, zeal and prayer, no ritual and superstition. God is alive in us, if we allow ourselves to meet like Zacchaeus, convert like Paul, so, after his meeting, nothing is as it was before. We believe in a living God if we accept the Word (viva!) that devastated us, questions us, gives us answers. We believe in the God of the living if we listen to those we speak (well) about him, how - for him - they love.
In the endless sea of \u200b\u200bmalice, oppression, intolerance, of cruel revenge, all kinds of violence, in which the average daily overwhelm us, it's really exciting to see every now and then proposed again made light of the stories: the Church to help flood victims and disaster victims all over the world, priests who give hope to prisoners, homeless people with poor friars, nuns who wear out to the derelict, missionaries promoting dignity for women, helping them emerge from poverty and slavery for men. Here, a lot of people believe the God of the living and working and suffering that all might have life, wherever they are, whoever they are. Scores of witnesses are behind and in front of us. As the mother of the first reading, which encourages children to martyrdom rather than recant their faith, like so many (too many) Christian martyrs today's victims of false religious ideologies, like those working for peace in daily life and toil.
We are alive (I am?) Where we learned to stop going after him, if we let ourselves be fooled by the sirens did not promise us that if we have any happiness if appaiamo, if we pray, we produce, earn, seduce etc. And if we know forgive, if we know try, if we understand that this life is worth to be discovered, "more" hidden in the folds of history, of our history.
This must be our belief, brothers, this must be our faith, a faith that becomes possible to produce good, which becomes a new life for others. Otherwise, it is life, and we will not live! His disciples to be dynamic, we must get to the bottom, despite fatigue, despite the fears, despite the uncertainty in finding our role, despite the discovery of many of our weaknesses, but with the certainty that he will embrace, with us, all our defects and inconsistencies. So, brothers and sisters, let us try! We too become live disciples of a living God, so we can already now, to really live life. Amen.
